Amid Threat, Imran Khan's Lahore Rally From Inside Bulletproof Container

Despite a threat alert issued by the interim Punjab government warning of potential terrorist attacks targeting political events in the provincial capital, former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan led a rally for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party at the Minar-e-Pakistan ground in Lahore. Khan addressed the crowd from a bulletproof container due to security concerns. The government had announced that terrorists carrying explosive material had arrived in Lahore and could target political rallies or law enforcement agencies deployed for the events. The government placed containers on the way leading to the rally to protect citizens, but PTI claimed this was an attempt to undermine their power show. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a PTI leader, called on workers to walk to the rally if the roads were blocked, and warned against taking the law into their own hands. The PTI claimed that over 1,500 of its workers had been arrested since the announcement of the rally. Imran Khan, who was ousted from power in April 2022, gave his vision of "Haqeeqi Azadi" and how to address the country's issues. The Lahore ATC granted Khan interim bail till April 4 in three cases relating to clashes that took place between PTI supporters and the police outside Khan's Zaman Park residence
